Through the workshop, participants learnt how to strike up conversations with people on campus, respond to others in the workplace, expand social networks, as well as acquire the language and etiquette of ordering food and drinks.
Toastmasters Club Taster Sessions
The Toastmasters Club Taster Sessions have been organised by the College with the assistance of our Student Coordinators, to encourage College students to improve public speaking skills in a casual and supportive environment through group activities, prepared or impromptu speeches, and peer sharing and evaluation.
Four sessions were held on 29 September, 13 and 27 October and 2 November 2021 in Term 1, 2021–22. The Student Coordinators, Mr DAI Zijie Caius (Year 3, Computer Science) and Mr CHU Lik Hang Hugo (Year 4, Laws), prepared intriguing table topics that were at times contentious, sometimes philosophical and always highly related to students' academic and social life. Ms Tessa STEWART, Honorary Advisor of the United College Toastmasters Club, joined some sessions as the General Evaluator to give feedback to participants.
