At the start of the party, Tyler thanked the College for all the preparations done for that night, including the order for festive foods and drinks and the lovely decorations around the venue. During his sharing, he introduced interestingly the history, traditions and customs, as well as recent trends of celebrations (such as Black Friday and Cyber Monday) of Thanksgiving in the US.
The party reached its climax when the participants could taste the traditional food served at Thanksgiving, such as roast turkeys, pumpkin pies and pecan pies, with snacks, fruit juice and apple cider. The participants were excited to see the College Master Prof Wai-Yee CHAN, who had lived in the US for a long time, carve the turkeys skilfully.
The party brought College students from different origins, students from other Colleges, College Fellows, teachers and staff together in an informal and relaxing setting. The venue was packed with around 60 participants, and alive with their laughter and conversation. They helped one another to the festive foods, which were so delicious that they were all gone quickly.
The American students from other Colleges were very impressed by the College initiative of organising an event to celebrate Thanksgiving. They had a joyful night with our College students.
