To complement the exhibition "A Field in Bloom: Highlights of Chinese Art to Mark the 60th Anniversary of the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK", the Art Museum organised a public lecture in which Prof. Tong Kam-tang (Associate Professor, Department of Fine Arts, CUHK) was invited to share with the audience his ideas in "Painting Sketches and Chinese Painting Education". A painting demonstration was also conducted after the talk. The event was held at University Bookstore, CUHK, and attracted 46 participants.

The Art Museum also organised two workshops for the public to experience the Chinese ink painting class received by CUHK Fine Arts students. The workshops comprised two sections, namely a guided tour of the exhibition and a Chinese ink painting workshop by Mr. Ross Yau, an artist who graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK. The workshops took place on 16 December 2017 (Saturday) and 6 January 2018 (Saturday), attracting 36 people.
