Workshop on Getting Ready for the Workplace
|
The College recruited its first cohort of students in 2012. By summer 2014, these students will be going from Year 2 to Year 3, and should start thinking about the workplace. After consulting students, the College organized a workshop entitled 'Getting Ready for the Workplace' on 26 May 2014.
In the workshop, Mrs Elsie Hui, Human Resources Director for North Asia, Jones Lang Lasalle, talked about the selection criteria for recruiting new employees, to help students equip themselves and make preparations for job interviews. Mr Daniel Chow, Training Manager of the Personnel Office, and Ms Jessica Tse, Manager of Career Planning and Development Section, Office of Student Affairs, spoke on 'Polishing and projecting your professional image in the workplace' and 'Career planning and resources available' respectively. They provided students with useful information and advice, to help them make a successful transition from college to career. In addition, Mr Sun Yixing, a Year 2 College student, shared his internship experience from last year, telling fellow students how to adapt to the working environment. Participants of this workshop reaped the benefits of the speakers' sharing and realized the importance and need for strategic planning in advance, to prepare for their careers.
