The first training programme in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) for mainland academic links officers was held in 16-21 November. With the great support from the Ministry of Education (MOE), 30 executives from various mainland universities had participated in the programme.

The bi-annual 6th e-Challenge Cup, a business plan competition open to university students of China was held at Sichuan University, Chengdu on 17 – 18 November. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) won the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for the Hong Kong and Macau Region.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) , Nanjing University and Taiwan Central University, co-organised the "3rd Cross-Strait Forum on Humanities and Social Sciences" on 22 and 23 November at CUHK. The theme of this year is "City, Society, Culture – Innovation and Continuation of Tradition". Prof. Leo Lee Ou-fan, Professor of Humanities of CUHK, and 50 scholars in humanities and social sciences from the mainland, Hong Kong, and Taiwan participated in the Forum to discuss topics on societies and cultures of the three places.

Mr. Gu Zhaoxi, Vice Governor of the Yunnan Province, visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 10 November to give a public lecture on "Science and Civilization". He also met with CUHK representatives including Prof. Lawrence J. Lau, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kenneth Young, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor.

In the lecture, Mr. Gu talked about the nature of science and its relation to human society and civilization. He also considers art and science to be equally important in our society and its development.

12 senior executives from various administrative units of the Chinese University of Hong Kong visited Zhejiang University during 6 – 8 November. This is the second visit of CUHK executives to a mainland partner university following last year's visit to Fudan University.

The delegation included representatives from Colleges, Campus Development Office, Personnel Office, Office of Student Affairs, Office of Registry Services, Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, Communications and Public Relations Office, Office of Academic Links (China) etc. The delegates introduced their respective areas of work and exchanged views and their administrative experiences with their counterparts in Zhejiang University. They also visited the campus of the University.
