From the Editor

Making use of the convenience of the internet, the College will publish the E-newsletter on a regular basis to communicate with our alumni, teachers, and supporters on the latest development of the College. We plan to publish four issues each year in February, May, August and December. The Newsletter serves as a bridge between the College and its constituencies, so that we can together continue the heritage of the 'New Asia spirit' and contribute to the development of the College.

News on the Government's Sixth Matching Grant Scheme

The Sixth Matching Grant Scheme has commenced on August 1, 2012 .  Donations received from August 2, 2012 to January 31, 2013 would be eligible  for the allocation of Grant  in the ratio of 30% (i.e. HK$1 : HK$0.3) on a first-come-first served basis.    We hereby call on the continual support of all NewAsians and Friends in helping the College to achieving our missions by taking the opportunity of increasing our donations through the Matching Grant Scheme.

In Memory of Mrs. Ch'ien Hu Mei-chi
In Memory of Mrs. Ch’ien Hu Mei-chi
Mrs. Ch'ien Hu Mei-chi, the beloved wife of our founder the late Mr. Ch'ien Mu, passed away on 26 March 2012 in Taipei. In memory of Mrs. Chien's great contributions to the College and education, a memorial service was held on Saturday, 12 May 2012 at G/F, Daisy Li Hall of the College.
The 10th Seminar on Chinese Moral Education
Established in 2002, The Seminar on Chinese Moral Education is co-organized by the College and the Beijing Oriental Morality Institute. The Seminar aims to promote Chinese Traditional Virtues and moral education for our younger generation.
The Seminar on Traditional Chinese Culture 2012

Organized by the High School Education Committee of the Chinese Society of Education, the "Seminar on Traditional Chinese Culture" has been offered in every summer since 2000. The Seminar is sponsored by the Su-Shu-Lou Cultural & Educational Foundation, and co-organized by New Asia College, New Asia Middle School and Hong Kong Traditional Chinese Culture Research Council. The programe has attracted School Principals and teachers from high schools in mainland China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong. The total number of past participants has already exceeded 500.

New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China

To enhance academic and cultural exchanges, the College has been organizing the "Ch'ien Mu Lecture in History and Culture" and the "Yu Ying-shih Lecture in History" since 1978 and 2008 respectively. For both programmes, a distinguished scholar will be invited to deliver a series of lectures exploring interesting topics on Chinese History and Culture.

In view of China's rapid economic growth inrecent years, the College has newly established the "New Asia Lectures on Contemporary China" with the aim of stimulating public interestin the development of and challenges faced by our country. A scholar or public figure from various professions will be invited each year to deliver lectures/seminars on recent issues related to the economy, society or environment of mainland China, Taiwan, Macau or Hong Kong.

New Asia / Yale Summer Community Services Exchange
New Asia College and Yale-China Association jointly established this programme in 2002/2003. The major objective is to bring together students from different regions for a cultural exchange; to achieve a better understanding of different approaches to community/public services.
New Asia College / Hertford College of Oxford University Study Abroad and Cultural Exploration Programme 2012
New Asia College was invited to co-organize the 'New Asia College / Hertford College of Oxford University Study Abroad and Cultural Exploration Programme' with Herford College, Oxford University, U.K., in 2010. Our College is one of the few educational institutions in Hong Kong to establish partnership with Hertford College.
New Asia College / Hunan University Summer Exchange Programme
New Asia College, Hunan University and Yale-China Association started this summer exchange programme in 2007. This programme aims to increase the understanding and cultural exchange between Hong Kong and mainland students. Delegates from Hunan University will visit our College in mid-July.
Yale-China / Goldman Sachs Business Challenge
The second annual "Yale-China / Goldman Sachs Business Challenge" programme was held at the College on 18 May 2012. The programme was co-organized by the College and Goldman Sachs, it aims at encouraging future business leaders to think creatively about how to solve challenges that the world is facing.
The 1st Wedding Ceremony held at Daisy Li Hall of the College
A special wedding ceremony was held at Daisy Li Hall on April 6, 2012. Two alumni of the College, Mr. Carson Tse Kar-Son, Cheng Ming Awardee 2002 and former tutor of Daisy Li Hall, and Miss Lam Wing-shan, former Secretary of Daisy Li Hall Residents' Association and graduate of Department of Fine Arts, stepped into a new stage of their lives by getting married.
Mentorship Programme 2011-12
A reunion dinner of the mentorship programme 2011-12 was held in the Staff and Students' Canteen on May 19 2012, to bring the programme to a successful conclusion this year. The number of participants of this programme was a record high.
40-year and 30-year Reunion of Class 1972 and 1982
In celebration of the 40th and 30th graduation anniversary of New Asia alumni of Class 1972 and 1982, the College will organize a dinner/reunion in November 2012. The reunion serves as a valuable platform for alumni to recapture happy moments of their university life, share with each other their recent experiences, and give valuable advice to facilitate the future development of the College.
Welcome to join The Alumni Association of New Asia College, CUHK
Formed by 12 alumni from the first two batches of graduates, the Alumni Association of New Asia College was established on 7 February 1954. Since its establishment in the 1950s, the missions of the Association remain unchanged: to promote "New Asia Spirit"; to form a closer rapport among alumni; to facilitate the development of the College; to enrich students' learning experience; and to publish New Asia Alumni.
