Participation in Guangzhou-Hong Kong Postgraduate Technology Workshop and Postgraduate Research Symposium on Regenerative Medicine 2014

Led by Prof. Chan Wai-yee, Director of School of Biomedical Sciences, a delegation comprising Prof. Wan Chao, Prof. Zhao Hui, Prof. Albert H.H. Cheung as well as 16 postgraduate students and research staff participated in the Guangzhou-Hong Kong Postgraduate Technology Workshop and Postgraduate Research Symposium on Regenerative Medicine 2014 held on 16 and 17 December 2014.

The Workshop and Symposium were jointly-organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Key Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine, and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Synergistic Innovation Center for Tissue Repair and Regeneration, with the support of the MOE Ten Thousand Student Interflow Programme 2014, Jinan University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The event aimed at promoting academic exchange among postgraduate students pursuing their studies in various fields of regenerative medicine. Following the last one held in November 2013, this was the second time that the postgraduate students of our School took part in this event.

During the Symposium, 6 of our students were invited to give oral presentation on their research topics, while 8 of them participated in poster presentations to compete for prizes with other students from the Jinan University. With their exceptional performance, 4 of our students won oral presentation prizes and 4 won poster presentation prizes. Meanwhile, Prof. Wan, Prof. Zhao and Prof. Cheung were invited to share their insights and experience in applying biotechnologies in regenerative medicine.
