A delegation of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) attended the 16th Annual Meeting of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), co-hosted by CAST and the People's Government of Yunnan Province. The meeting was held in Kunming from 24 to 26 May 2014.
Members of the delegation included Prof. Leung Ping-chung, Director of the Centre for Clinical Trials on Chinese Medicine; Prof. Wong Kam-fai, Associate Dean of Engineering and Director of the Centre for Innovation and Technology; and Prof. Tang Jin-ling, Associate Director of the Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care.
The meeting was a national annual event on the mainland. The theme of this year was "Innovation and Productivity Growth". Renowned scientists delivered talks at the meeting including Prof. Han Qide, Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology; Prof. Bai Chunli, President of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof. Xie Kechang, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Mr. Wu Shulin, Deputy Director, State General Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television. Thousands of scholars, scientists and specialists from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau region participated in the event.
CUHK has formed delegation to attend this important scientific annual meeting organized by CAST since 2012. The activity not only provided a good opportunity to build up academic linkages among scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau from a wide variety of fields in science and technology, but also helped facilitate collaborations and partnership development.
