CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor Presents Report at 2020 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning-China International Conference

The 2020 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning-China International Conference was held from 21 to 23 August. The Conference was co-organized by Beijing Institute of Technology, International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) and Chinese Association for Suzhi Education. Over 130 worldwide education specialists and scholars joined this international event. Professor Poon Wai-yin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) participated in the Conference to give a plenary talk.

Professor Poon delivered her talk entitled “Practice of Real-Time Synchronization in Online Teaching”, introducing the difficulties and challenges brought by COVID-19 to CUHK in teaching. A range of topics covered concerted efforts made by the management, academic members and specialists in regulating teaching policy, implementation of infrastructure, gaining support from staff and students, as well as monitoring quality and innovative tools. Such endeavors assure the delivering of knowledge in an effective way in the “New Normal”.

Apart from the plenary reports, the Conference also had 11 forums comprising 54 sessions, 9 thematic workshops and 19 poster presentations that attracted over 75000 participants online. Experts and scholars expressed views and exchanged solid experience in teaching innovation via the provided platforms.

The Conference provided an established platform for academic experts from different nations to share ideas on teaching and learning in higher education and to enhance communication between universities to improve student learning around the world.
