CUHK Professor He Xuhua Awarded the XPLORER PRIZE 2020

Professor He Xuhua, Choh-Ming Li Professor of Mathematics of the Department of Mathematics and the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMS) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), received The XPLORER PRIZE (Mathematics and Physics) in 2020. Prof. He is the first group of Hong Kong scholars to receive the award in recognition of his spirit of scientific exploration and potential for innovation.

Prof. He expressed that he is so delighted to be awarded the "XPLORER PRIZE". He added that this award not only affirms his contribution in mathematical fields, including arithmetic geometry and representation theory, but also fosters his future research directions dedicated to local, national and the global science.

"XPLORER PRIZE" was jointly initiated by Mr. Ma Huateng, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tencent, the founder of Tencent Foundation, and a number of well-known scientists including Professor Yang Chen-Ning, Nobel Laureate in Physics in 2018. CUHK Professor Michael Lyu Receives the 13th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award

Professor Michael R. Lyu, Professor of the Faculty of Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), received the 13th Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award. This honor was given to his remarkable achivements and contribution to the theory and applications of software reliability engineering.

Professor Lyu is a world-renowned scholar in software reliability engineering and has been dedicated to research in the theory and application of software reliability engineering for two decades, together with distributed systems, cloud computing, services computing, big data analytics, and machine learning. In particular, he has made significant contributions to software reliability modeling, measurement, analytics, and applications. He extended a heartfelt thanks to the continuous support from his family as well as colleagues and expressed that the award not only serves as a recognition of the effort of his team, but also demonstrates the very best of the research environment in the University.

Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award was established in 1996 as a national engineering award to recognise Chinese engineers and scientists in recognition of their outstanding achievements and significant contributions to engineering science and technology, as well as engineering management. There were 296 candidates this year and 41 scientists were named awardees after stringent process from by the Chinsed Academy of Engineering and review committees of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
