Event: Opening Ceremonies of the Exhibitions "A Field in Bloom: Highlights of Chinese Art to Mark the 60th Anniversary of the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK" and "Phoenix Reborn: Chu Jades Excavated from Hubei", Art Museum
 

The opening ceremony of the exhibition, "A Field in Bloom: Highlights of Chinese Art to Mark the 60th Anniversary of the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK", was held on 29 September 2017 (Friday). The officiating guests included Prof. Henry N. C. Wong, Head of New Asia College, CUHK; Prof. Mayching Kao, former Professor of Fine Arts, CUHK; Prof. Frank Vigneron, Chairman of the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK; Prof. Tong Kam-tang, Associate Professor of the Department of Fine Arts, CUHK; Prof. Leung Yuen-sang, Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies, CUHK; Prof. Yiu Chun-chong Josh, Director of the Art Museum, CUHK; and Dr. Phil Chan, Research-Assistant Curator (Painting and Calligraphy) of the Art Museum, CUHK.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition, "Phoenix Reborn: Chu Jades Excavated from Hubei", was held on 20 October 2017 (Friday). The officiating guests included Mr. Zeng Pan, Head of the Exhibition Department of the Hubei Provincial Museum; Mr. Wu Jun, Director-General of the Department of Publicity, Culture and Sports Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President, CUHK; Prof. Leung Yuen-sang, Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies, CUHK; Mr. Christopher Mok, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Art Museum, CUHK; Prof. Yiu Chun-chong Josh, Director of the Art Museum, CUHK; and Prof. Xu Xiaodong, Associate Director of the Art Museum, CUHK.

To coincide with the exhibition "Phoenix Reborn: Chu Jades Excavated from Hubei", the Art Museum organised an academic conference on 21 October 2017 at L1 of the Institute of Chinese Studies. Guest speakers included Mr. Zeng Pan (Head of the Exhibition Department, Hubei Provincial Museum); Mr. Ji Kunzhang (Research Associate, Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology); Ms Yang Jing (Research Fellow, Palace Museum, Beijing); Mr. Wu Tarng-Hae (Research Fellow, Aurora Museum, Shanghai); Mr. Tsai Ching-Liang (Researcher, National Palace Museum, Taipei); and Prof. Xu Xiaodong (Associate Director of the Art Museum, CUHK). The AM and PM sessions of the conference had respectively attracted over 70 participants.
