"Remembering Charles" Exhibition: Recruitment of Volunteers

To commemorate the first year after the passing of Professor Sir Charles Kao, former Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Nobel Prize Laureate, the Charles K. Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease will organise the "Remembering Charles" exhibition in September and October this year.  The exhibition is going to highlight Professor Kao's lifetime achievements and outstanding contribution.  His artwork produced during his treatment by art therapy from 2013 to 2018 will also be showcased.  On the other hand, there will be interactive installations to enhance public's understanding of dementia.

As the supporting unit of "Remembering Charles" exhibition, this Centre is now recruiting volunteers for the Charles K. Kao Foundation for Alzheimer's Disease to help out with two areas of the exhibition.  Details are as follows:

1. Preparation

Period:August to early-October 2019 (work once or twice a week until completion
of the exhibition)
Time:9:00 am - 5:30 pm
Location:Wanchai, Central & Western District, and Shatin
Responsibility:i.   To draft and edit display contents
ii.  To promote the exhibition
iii. To organise the exhibition's opening ceremony on 16 September 2019
iv. To supervise the volunteers during the exhibition period
Requirement:i.   Full-time undergraduate/ postgraduate students and part-time / retired
     staff
ii.  Literate in Chinese and English
iii. Able to bring their own laptop computer

2. On-site Support

Period:16 September to 14 October 2019
Time:9:00 am to 2:00 pm or 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm (two to three volunteers are
required for each time slot)
Venue:i.   The Rotunda, Exchange Square (16-19 September 2019)
ii.  Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre (20-24 and 26-30 September 2019)
iii. The University Library, CUHK (2-6 and 8-14 October 2019)
Responsibility:i.   To assist in the exhibition's opening ceremony on 16 September 2019
ii.  To draw passerbys to the exhibition
iii. To receive participants and answer enquiries
Requirement:i.   Full-time undergraduate/ postgraduate students and full-time/ part-time/
     retired staff
ii.  Able to work for at least one time slot
iii. Fluent in Cantonese and English

Priority for the above positions will be given to those who joined the "Jockey Club Charles Kao Brain Health Services Project" coordinated by this Centre.  This Centre will offer transportation allowance to every participating student (not staff).
