The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) joined the 15th Higher Education Management Training Program held in Tsinghua University from 9 to 16 October, 2014. The program was organized by Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office of the Ministry of Education (MOE), and Education, Science and Technology Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR.
A total of 28 participants from 9 tertiary institutions in Hong Kong took part in the program, including two colleagues from Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC) and Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services (ORKTS) of CUHK. The course comprised of a series of lectures on higher education, judicial and political systems, diplomacy, as well as the social and economic developments of Mainland China. Participants also visited historic sites in Beijing and met with representatives of Tsinghua University. The 8-day program provided a great opportunity for participants from Hong Kong tertiary institutions to obtain valuable knowledge on higher education sector and the recent developments of Mainland China.
One of the CUHK participants, Mr. George Yuen, Computer Officer I of ITSC, expressed his views in joining the program. 'The course gave me the chance to know more about the development in higher education, political systems on the mainland. Since the collaboration between CUHK and Mainland institutions is becoming more frequent, I have a lot of chances meeting with mainland scholars and students. This program provided comprehensive information of the development of China and the opportunities to interact with scholars and students from different backgrounds in Tsinghua University'.
