Vote of Thanks

The Department would like to express thanks to Prof. Chan Ngai Hang, who retired in October 2022; Dr Philip Lee, who left the University in July 2022; and Dr Han Ruijian, who left the University in September 2022, for their contributions to the Department.

New Staff

Dr Wang Juihui joined the Department as Professor on 1 August 2022. He obtained a BS in Probability and Statistics from Peking University and a PhD in Statistics from the University of Minnesota. Before joining the Department, he was Professor at the School of Data Science, City University of Hong Kong. His research interests include statistical machine learning.

Dr Liu Kin Yat joined the Department as Lecturer on 1 August 2022. He obtained a BEng in Electronic Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and an MPhil and a PhD in Statistics from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Before joining our Department, he served in the Department of Applied Mathematics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Dr Leung Sze Him, who is our alumnus, joined the Department as Lecturer on 1 September 2022. He obtained a BS and PhD in Statistics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Ms Yoyo Chan and Ms Justine Chiu joined the Department as Project Coordinator in May 2022.

Promotion

Prof. Yau Chun Yip was promoted to Professor, with effect from 1 August 2022.

Prof. Fang Xiao was promoted to Associate Professor, with effect from 1 August 2022.
