Representatives from the 3 universities delivered talks on the development of green campus in each university and shared experience in implementing green policies and environmental plans as well as the achievements and problems at the seminar. The activity provided a platform for exchange of expertise and served the purpose of fostering collaboration under the Green University Consortium. CUHK delegates also visited the Department of Environmental Protection of Taipei City Government to learn the experience of waste management in Taipei, including the operation of furniture reuse and garbage disposal through incinerating.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Nanjing University (NJU) and Taiwan Central University (NCU) established the Cross-strait Green University Consortium in 2011 to consolidate resources to drive joint initiatives that incorporate green concepts into research and education. Under this framework, the 3 universities have been collaborating to organize student activities, host seminars, form research teams and exchange teaching experience.
