President of Ningbo University delivers a lecture at CUHK

A delegation led by Prof. Nie Qiuhua, President of Ningbo University (NBU) visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 16 July 2012. During the visit, he met with CUHK senior members and delivered a lecture at Shaw College.

It was the second visit of Prof. Nie in CUHK. The delegation met with Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Andrew Chan, Head of Shaw College and Prof. Freedom Leung, Dean of Students of Shaw College; Dr. Li Dak Sum of Ning Po Residents Association; and Mr. William King, Trustee of Shaw College to learn more about the University and student exchange activities between NBU and CUHK. Prof. Nie next visited Shaw College, where he was warmly received by students from a cultural exchange programme between NBU and Shaw College of CUHK. Apart from visiting the facilities of the College, Prof. Nie delivered a lecture to share his insights on the purpose of university education.

With the goal of promoting academic exchange between CUHK and NBU, Dr. Li Dak Sum donated a generous amount to establish the Li Dak Sum Academic Exchange Fund for academic exchange, young scholars training and student interflow activities. The fund has supported a student cultural interflow programme between Shaw College of CUHK and NBU in January 2012.
