CUHK and Xi'an Jiaotong University Co-host Seminar on Migration

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) – Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) Joint Research Center on Migration co-organized a seminar of the China Population Society's Committee on Migration, Movement and Urbanization entitled "Migration, Welfare and Policy from Interdisciplinary Perspective" with the Institute of Population and Development of XJTU and the Shaanxi Population Society. The seminar was attended by guests from government departments, research institutes and universities including the National Health and Wellness Committee, China Population and Development Research Center, Shaanxi Provincial Exit-Entry Administration Department, Peking University, Xiamen University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, XJTU and Shaanxi Provincial Population Society.

With focus on issues related to migration and population policy through interdisciplinary research, the seminar encouraged exchange of views and shared research work on the impact of migration concerning the well-being of population developments and the roles of relevant policies. A total of 13 talks were delivered to share recent research works by the speakers. Poster session included research papers on topics ranged from health care services for migrants and farmer welfare in resettlement areas to mechanism of social network in mental health of migrant workers.

The CUHK – XJTU Joint Research Center on Migration was established by the two universities in June 2018 to focus efforts on international immigration and emigration and internal migration in China, as well as relevant social policies and economic impact. It serves as an exchange platform for scholars all over the world to conduct cross-disciplinary research, and develop as a leading base globally on migration.
