Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Forum for Academic Exchange Heads 2014 was held in Hong Kong on 16 May. Over 60 representatives, including representatives from the Education Department, and Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Guangdong Provincial Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, Education Bureau of HKSAR, as well as administrators from 11 Hong Kong tertiary institutions and 27 mainland and Macau institutions attended the event. Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China) of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) participated in the Forum on behalf of the University.

The theme this year was "Enhance Cooperation among Higher Education Institutions in Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong for the Development of General Education". Representatives from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau discussed the challenges in support of general education in the universities from the 3 regions. The meeting provided opportunities for the heads in academic exchange units from the regions to share their experience in higher education sector. Participants not only obtained valuable knowledge, but also established stronger links with each other through this event.

The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Forum for Academic Exchange Heads is an annual activity to serve as a platform for academic exchange administrators in Hong Kong, Guangdong and Macau to exchange views and ideas. CUHK served as the convener for the Forum in 2009 and 2010.
