CUHK Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Sung Visits Shanghai and Zhejiang
Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), led a delegation to Shanghai and Hangzhou in 18 – 21 May. Visits were paid to Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Fudan University (FDU), and meeting was held with CUHK alumni in Shanghai. Prof. Sung then visited Zhejiang Univerisity (ZJU), to attend the ceremonial activities for the
120th Anniversary of ZJU, the Chinese-Foreign University Presidents Forum and the University Presidents Summit. The outreach trip enhanced linkage and cooperation between CUHK and its major partner institutions.
During his visit to Shanghai, Prof. Sung co-chaired the meetings of the Partnership Steering Committees with the Presidents of SJTU and FDU. He also officiated at the establishment ceremony of joint research centres and signed collaboration agreements. Relevant details can be found in the Partnership and Collaboration Section.
In Hangzhou, Prof. Sung met with Prof. Wu Zhaohui, President of ZJU and renewed a number of collaboration agreements, including the Joint Research Centre of Liver and Digestive Diseases, the Joint Laboratory on Natural Products and Toxicology Research, and the Joint Laboratory on Advanced Photonics Research, which ensures the continuity of the collaboration advancement. Prof. Sung congratulated on the 120th anniversary of ZJU, and commended its continuous advancement of teaching and research, the nurture of excellent talents, as well as the significant contributions to national and regional developments. He hopes that both universities can yield more fruitful results in future collaboration and exchange. Since the establishment of partnership in 1991, CUHK has been collaborating closely with ZJU on a wide range of areas, including research, supervision of postgraduates and student interflow. Both universities are members of the Worldwide Universities Network and the Association of University Presidents of China.
At the panel forum of the University Presidents Summit, Prof. Sung shared his insights in social advancement and science and technology innovation. He also chaired a panel discussion section and delivered a speech in the Forum on Establising World-Class Universities 2017 cum Meeting of Association of University Presidents of China.

CUHK Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Fanny Cheung Visits Nanjing
Prof. Fanny Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), visited Nanjing from 19 to 21 May. She attended the Meeting of Vice Presidents for Research under the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), sharing her experience in enchancing research collaboration and knowledge transfer with delegates around the world on behalf of CUHK.
Prof. Cheung also met with Prof. Fan Conglai, Associate Vice-President of Nanjing University (NJU) during her visit to discuss a variety of collaborative projects between the two universities and possible future plans. CUHK established partnership with NJU in 1994, since when the universities have initiated active faculty exchange and launched numerous research projects and student activities. NJU also joined hands with CUHK and National Central University in the establishment of the Cross-strait Green University Consortium to promote green initiatives and sustainable developments in universities. The consortium has been expanded to six member universities across the regions.
Visit was also paid to Southeast University (SEU) where Prof. Cheung met with Prof. Wang Baoping, Provost of SEU and renewed the collaboration agreement between the two universities. The visit enhanced mutual communication and linkage, exploring future opportunities of collaboration.
