The 90th Congregation (Conferment of Bachelor's Degrees) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong cum Graduation Ceremony of CW Chu College 2020–21
|
4 November 2021 saw the sixth batch of graduates celebrating the completion of their University programmes on their Graduation Day. With most COVID-19 safety practices still in place, the conferment of Degrees took the form of decentralised ceremonies, held separately by the nine Colleges and the eight Faculties to avoid mass gathering on campus. Under this arrangement, a total of 43 graduates attended the 90th Congregation (Conferment of Bachelor's Degrees) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong cum Graduation Ceremony of CW Chu College 2020–21. Live broadcast was arranged for the 60 guests, who were families and guests of the graduates.

Representatives of Graduating Class of 2022
|
Since the first graduating class, the College has invited students of each class to nominate representatives to take up the role as a bridge between the College and fellow students of the same class. This year, the College has received a total of four nominations, which have all been formally accepted by the College. The list of the representatives of the Graduating Class of 2022 is as follows:

Honour Code Pledging Ceremony
|
It is the CW Chu College tradition for all Year 1 students to pledge to abide by the College Honour Code through the Honour Code Pledging Ceremony, usually held in Term 1 of each academic year. In light of the easing of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Pledging Ceremony for the 2021 cohort was held physically during a session of the Extended Orientation, on 10 September 2021 (Friday).

Night Talks
|
Hong Kong History and Cantonese Language (28 September, 5 and 26 October 2021)
The College was delighted to engage Mr George WAN to deliver a series of Night Talks regarding the history of Sung Wong Toi area, handwritten signboards in Hong Kong and the basics of Cantonese phonology on 28 September, 5 and 26 October 2021 respectively. It aimed to let students, both local and non-local, learn more about the interesting history and culture of Hong Kong.

College Orientation (Term 1, 2021–22)
|
Orientation Activities for Non-local Students (27 August and 3 September 2021)
New international students were welcomed on 27 August 2021 in a virtual Orientation Camp organised by the International Student Association (ISA). A greeting video pre-recorded by Prof Suk-Ying WONG, College Master, was presented at this session. In the video, Prof WONG encouraged new students to reach out to our College members during their stay in Hong Kong.

Incoming Exchange Students (2021–22)
|
Virtual Welcoming Session for Incoming Exchange Students (3 September 2021)
New incoming exchange students joining CWC in Term 1, 2021–22 were welcomed on 3 September 2021 in a virtual welcoming session. The arrangement was made as the majority of exchange students were still undergoing compulsory quarantine off-campus. The College Master, Dean of Students, Chair of the External Links and Exchange Committee, Warden, Prof Wai-Yee CHAN and Prof Kenneth YOUNG all joined this session.

The scrumptious turkey brought the night to its climax.

Summer Service Project
Thanks to the generous support of The D. H. Chen Foundation, the College Service Team has been able to run its service projects smoothly throughout the years. They have brought a positive influence on the participants, including the university and secondary school students.

Student Sharing on Service Experience

Book Donation Activity (Ms YIM Wai Ki, Year 2, Translation)
During the early stage, our team had thought about how to mobilise not only our members but also the students in CUHK in a service activity. Book donation was a choice that suited our goal. Yet, when we were preparing and promoting this event, we faced many obstacles.

|
Information Sessions (Term 1, 2021–22)
Three Information Sessions for potential members of the Seventh Residents' Association were conducted by the Sixth Residents' Association at Chong Kin Wo Hall on 14, 21 and 28 September 2021 respectively. Eight Year 1 students indicated interest to run for the Seventh Residents' Association.

Peer Mentoring Program 2021
|
To facilitate new students' transition to university life, the College has been co-hosting the Peer Mentoring Program organised by the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) since 2014. Each peer mentee receives support from a peer mentor, an upper-year CWC student matched by major subjects and trained by the ILC.

‘Making the Festive Season Happier Series’
|
There is always something exciting about Christmas. As the year 2021 and the final exam were drawing to a close, the College launched a series of fun activities for CWC students in the Christmas and New Year holidays, with the objective of providing students with a relaxing atmosphere.

Culture and Language Enhancement (Term 1, 2021–22)

Social English Skills for Cross-Cultural Communication
Three workshops were hosted by Mr Brian OLSEN, Part-time Instructor, English Language Teaching Unit of CUHK, on 30 September, 7 and 12 October 2021, to enhance students' social English skills on various occasions and for cross-cultural communication purposes.

Outreach Activities
|
University-led Orientation Day 2021
The Orientation Day on 13 August 2021 was organised by the University for newly admitted students to learn more about the nine colleges of CUHK. The Orientation in 2021 conducted by the College was divided into three parts: College introductory talk, consultation session and virtual guided tours of the CWC campus.
