Residents' Association

1st Welfare Product Design Competition

The Seventh Residents' Association organized its first Welfare Product Design Competition in March 2022. All College students were invited to submit a computer bag design for the Competition by early March and vote for the best design during 17 and 24 March 2022. Three students joined the Competition and 60 students cast their votes. The winner was TAM How Yee (Year 1, Chinese Language and Literature). The winning design incorporated the use of Meme to connect with an experience shared by CWC students.

College Photo Day 2022

The College Photo Day 2022, under the stringent social distancing policy of the government during the fifth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, was replaced with two special arrangements. To allow for a safe yet celebratory setting for the sixth graduating class to reminisce about their College life, first of all, a physical backdrop was set up in the College Piazza for the graduating students to take photos from 16 May 2022 onwards. Members of the graduating class came back to take photos after renting their graduation gowns.

Career Preparation and Internship Scheme
College Internship Scheme 2022

As in the previous years, the College Summer Internship Scheme 2022 was open for application in early March 2022. Twenty eight summer internship opportunities were sourced from six companies/ organisations across various fields, such as asset management, programming, education, marketing, science and finance. Applications were received from 11 students.

Mentorship Scheme 2021–22
The College Mentorship Scheme was first introduced in 2012, the year when the first cohort enrolled. By now, 80 mentors, all distinguished professionals in their respective fields, have joined the Scheme to guide students on their educational and professional growth. Over 230 students are either currently in the Scheme, or have completed it.
Culture and Language Enhancement
Toastmasters Club Taster Sessions (Term 2, 2021–22)

The Toastmasters Club Taster Sessions are organised by the College to provide a platform for students to hone their public speaking skills and build up confidence, under an amiable setting.

Night Talks

How to Survive and Succeed in the Fast-Changing Tech World

An online Night Talk was given by Dr NG Man Cheuk Alfred on 31 March 2022, about the key steps to take in order to carry out research in technological advancement, borrowing his example of developing the ‘AI pet face recognition’ technology. Mr NG is an accomplished computer scientist and industrialist with both Asian and North American experience.

Easter Get Together with the College Master and Dean of Students

With the cancellation of College activities due the 5th wave of the COVID–19, the College Master and Dean of Students would like to better understand the hostel lives and studies of residents staying in the College hostel for the remainder of Term 2, 2021–2022. They invited participants to share personal updates during this gathering.

Programme Exploration Days for 2022 JUPAS Applicants

With the pandemic still ongoing, the Programme Exploration Days for 2022 JUPAS Applicants was held virtually from 24 to 27 May 2022 by the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. A website was developed to serve as a one-stop platform for visitors to learn about CUHK, including its admission requirements, campus, Faculties, Programmes and Colleges, through online materials and interactive initiatives such as live consultation sessions and a virtual campus tour.
