Peer Mentoring Programme

The Peer Mentoring Programme was launched in 2014 by The Independent Learning Centre (ILC) in collaboration with the College, to help new students in their transition to university life, by offering individual support from a peer mentor, who is upper-year student trained by ILC and the Office of Student Affairs.

In Term 1, 2016–17, 11 mentees joined and were matched with 9 mentors. Mentors attended formal training sessions organised by ILC in October and November 2016. A Mentee Preparation Session was held on 6 October 2016 to familiarize mentees with programme support and requirements.

Peer mentors and mentees met regularly, and were monitored and supported by ILC. A Certificate Presentation Ceremony was held on 23 November 2016 to celebrate successful completion of the programme. Dr Yvonne Loong, Senior Lecturer of ILC, and Prof Wong Suk Ying, Warden of the College, attended the ceremony and witnessed their achievements.
