Inter-floor Christmas Decoration Competition
The first event in the pipeline was the Inter-floor Christmas Decoration Competition. The activity aimed to bring joy to our residents during the holiday seasons, strengthen their friendship and enhance their sense of belonging to the College. Hall residents teamed up with Resident Tutors and floormates to decorate the pantry areas of each floor in the Ina Ho Chan Un Chan Building. The design had to include specific themes, e.g. the College Vision ‘I’ – intellectual development and the meaning of X'mas. The College Master, Dean of Students and Warden served as adjudicators for the competition. The winning team was made up of 12 students and their Resident Tutor on the sixth floor. The whole team was awarded supermarket cash coupons.
Movie Nights—Inside Out and Cruella
The two lighthearted movies were shown on 23 and 30 December 2021 respectively at Chong Kin Wo Hall, for CWC residents to wind down after the final examination. Takeaway desserts like small cakes, cheese packs plus crackers and grapes were arranged for the participants.
Cycling on Boxing Day
For a relaxing Boxing Day, CWC Resident Tutors organised a cycling trip along the Shatin–Taipo Bike Lane. Participants enjoyed not only the breeze and scenic coastline of Tolo Harbour along the way, but also the state-of-the-art architecture in the Hong Kong Science Park, as well as the mountain vista of Ma On Shan and Pat Sin Leng from the Pak Shek Kok Promenade.
Archi-Walk to Wanchai
Known to be one of the earliest developed districts in Hong Kong, Wanchai is a hidden treasure house with a diverse, multi-cultural community. It has a rich historical heritage as well as numerous contemporary constructions, making it a juxtaposition of the old and new, traditional and modern. During the semester break, the College engaged the docent service of Hong Kong Architecture Centre to arrange for 20 participants a two-hour guided tour to the Blue House, Pak Tai Temple, the former Wanchai Post Office, Wanchai Market and Lee Tung Street. After the guided tour, participants were encouraged to form groups of four to enjoy some cuisine with cultural specialty and apply for sponsorship from the College after submitting a written reflection.
