Issue 7 13 Sep 2013
From the Editor

We are pleased to bring to you Issue 7 of the College Newsletter, which summarizes what has happened in Term 2 of the 2012–13 academic year. We take this opportunity to reflect on the first year with the Founding Students, to share their endeavours, their joy and their achievements with our friends and supporters — and with the group of new students and exchange students joining us in September 2013, who will more than double our numbers and enrich our community.

Ground-Breaking Honour Code

"The greatest way to live with honour in this world is to be what we pretend to be." — Socrates

In November last year, there was an official Contract Work Commencement Ceremony at the site of our rising College building. The customary ceremonial spades were applied to the customary ceremonial patch of soil in order to signify, in the customary way, a new chapter in the emerging story of our young College. CUHK has, over the years, witnessed many similar ceremonies involving numerous people with justifiably bright hopes for the future. Bricks and mortar can, after all, be a very tangible sign of growth and success.

College Life Activities (2012–2013 Academic Year)

The 2012–2013 academic year has been a busy and active one for the College Life Committee, and for the students involved in the committee's social and educational activities in the College. While the College Life Committee has organized a number of events for the College, such as Movie Night, a hike to Shek O/Big Wave Bay, and Language Enhancement Activities, probably the most memorable events of the academic year were the High Table and Communal Dinner Talks.
