2011 Academic Symposium on Control and Automation, co-organized by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Division of Information Science of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), was held from 17 to 20 October 2011.

The 12th Challenge Cup was held at Dalian University of Technology from 15 to 20 October 2011. The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) won the top prize for the Hong Kong and Macau Region, becoming the only university in Hong Kong to receive the highest award for 5 consecutive times. On 15 October 2011, Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor and Prof. Hsiung Ping Chen, Dean of Faculty of Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and attended the opening ceremony of the 9th Asian New Humanities Net (ANHN) Annual Meeting.

A delegation, including representatives from higher education institutions in Ningbo, led by Mr. Huang Shili, Director of Ningbo Education Bureau (NEB), visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 24 October 2011 to learn more about the University and to establish links.

On 25-27 October, Prof. Ke Yang, Executive Vice President of Peking University paid visit to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). She attended the International Conference on Global Health and Public Health Education, and took the chance to explore the possibility in expanding collaboration in medicine with the University.

Prof. Simon Ho, Vice Rector of University of Macau, led a 23-member delegation to visit the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 27 October, with the aim of enhancing understanding on the general education development and language teaching of CUHK.

Prof. Chen Jian, Director General of Department of Education of Jiangsu Province led a 3-member delegation to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) for academic exchange on 27 October 2011.

A delegation from Yuanpei College of Peking University visited the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on 28 October 2011 to attend the grand opening of S. H. Ho College of CUHK. The delegation was led by Prof. Xu Chongren, Dean of Yuanpei College.

Applications for the State Science & Technology Awards initiated by the State Council of the People's Republic of China are now invited. Details are as below

-          On 11 October 2011, a 19-member delegation led by Prof. Li Weijian of Zhejiang Normal University visited CUHK and met with Prof. Hau Kit-tai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK to understand the University and its teaching management.
