With the aim of enhancing understanding between executives from universities in Mainland China and Hong Kong, the Office of Academic Links (China) has been organizing Summer Institute for Mainland Higher Education Executives since 2013. The activity was held from 5 to 12 July in 2015.
A total of 51 executives from 13 Mainland universities participated in the program, including representatives from Nanjing University, Nankai University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jaiotong University, Shandong University, Sichuan University, South China Normal University, Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Zhejiang University,. Prof. Gordon Cheung, Associate Vice President of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) delivered a welcome speech at the opening ceremony.
The program consisted of a series of lectures and visits through which participants obtained a better understanding of the College system, academic exchange, public relations and communications, student affairs management, human resources, alumni affairs, registration and examination in CUHK. The participants also acquired knowledge and exchanged ideas on the developments of management system of higher education institutions in Mainland China as well as in Hong Kong.
Apart from offering a valuable opportunity to enhance understanding of the recent developments of CUHK and in Hong Kong, the Institute also helped establish friendship and strengthen interaction between the executives of CUHK and its partner universities, which paved the way for further collaboration.
