The 11th Cross-Strait Meeting for University Presidents

Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) participated in the 11th Cross-Straits Meeting for University Presidents in the University of Macau from 20 to 22 July.  Participants joining the meeting comprised university leaders from 33 institutions in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau as well as representatives from China Democratic League.

The theme of this year was Reform on University Administration and Management. Presidents of the participating universities shared their experience on topics relating to university education as well as the challenges they encountered. The discussions provided opportunities for the Presidents from the four regions to exchange ideas in higher education sector. Participants also grasped the chance to establish stronger links with each other, enhancing cross-strait exchange through the activity.

The cross-strait meeting was initiated by the Peking University, Nanjing University, Taiwan University and China Democratic League in 2005, and received great responses from a variety of well acclaimed universities in the four regions.  The event has been held in Mainland China, Taiwan and Hong Kong in the past years. CUHK hosted the Presidents to visit CUHK during their stay in Hong Kong for the meeting in 2010.
