State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China Retreat

The State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China (Partner Laboratory in the Chinese University of Hong Kong [CUHK]) held its biannual retreat and joint conference with in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province on April 9 – 10.  A total of mor than 240 academic members and students from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and the Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU) attended the event.

 

Prof. Dennis Lo, Associate Director of the State Key Lab and Associate Dean of Medicine of CUHK gave opening remarks at the conference. He remarked the collaborative efforts from both sides in relevant research in oncology and hoped to strengthen the exisiting collaboration.  Faculty members of CUHK participated in the event and shared latest updates on their respective research projects, ranging from laboratory discoveries, clinical applications and observations to laboratory proofs.  They included Prof. Anthony Chan, Dr. Radha Raghupathy, Dr. Li lili, Dr Kang Wei and Dr. Sun Kun.  Dr Li Lili, Dr. Hau Pok Man, Mr. Du Zhenfang and Ms. Li Chen won the conference poster awards.

 

This activity enabled academics and students of both universities to share breakthroughs of their ongoing projects and to exchange ideas on new research topics. The exchange was also inspiring and stimulating for scientists and clinicians.. CUHK and SYSU jointly established the State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China (Partner Laboratory in CUHK) in 2006.  The first retreat was held in 2009 and has become an important annual event of the Lab.
