Eleven institutions on the mainland with 31 students participated in the program, including Beijing Normal University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, Harbin Engineering University, Jinan University, Nanjing University, Peking University, Shandong University, Sun Yat-sen University, Tsinghua University, and Zhejiang University. Participants took part in research internship for 8 weeks on different projects covering History, Biochemistry (Science), Biology, Biomedical Science, Precision Engineering, Chemistry, Space and Earth Information Science, Physics, Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, Information Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering, and Housing Innovations.
Apart from research training, the students had the opportunity to interflow with postgraduate students of CUHK and to tour key research facilities in the University. Visits were also arranged to some major public organisations in Hong Kong, such as Hong Kong Equal Opportunities Commission, Independent Commission Against Corruption and Legislative Council. These activities provided the participants with a broader picture of CUHK and Hong Kong.
A closing ceremony was held on August 13 with the attendance of Prof. Jack Cheng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and related professors participating in the programme. Presenting certificates to the participants, Prof. Cheng said that the placement programme has not only created a valuable learning opportunity for mainland postgraduate students to study in Hong Kong, but also strengthened partnership with the University's key partners on the mainland.
