CUHK delegation comprised Prof. Joseph Sung, Pro-Vice-Chancellors Prof. Jack Cheng and Prof. Henry N.C. Wong; Prof. Wong Ching-ping, Dean of Engineering; Prof. Fok Tai Fai, Dean of Medicine; Prof. Ng Cheuk-yiu, Dean of Science; and other relevant professors from the Faculties of Medicine and Business Administration.
From 23 to 24 August, the delegation visited The Second Military Medical University, Changhai Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Fudan University, and received updates on their latest developments. On 26 August, visits were paid to several research institutes under Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) including Shanghai Synchrotron, Shanghai Institute of Material Medica, Institute of Neuroscience of Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry and Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology. In meetings with university and institute management, the delegation discussed areas such as the development of academic strengths and research collaboration. During the visit, Prof. Sung and the delegation met Prof. Liu Zhenquan, President of The Second Military Medical Univesrity; Prof. Sun Yinghao, Head of Changhai Hospital; Prof. Zhang Jie, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Dr. Jiang Mianheng, Vice-President of CAS; and Prof. Yang Yuliang, President of Fudan Univesrity.
Agreements were concluded including a tripartite agreement between Fudan University and Waseda University on a Joint Undergraduate Programme in Asian Business Studies, and a general collaboration agreement with The Second Military Medical Univesrity. CUHK had developed several collaboration projects with Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Branch of Chinese Academy of Sciences respectively. These projects were expected to be launched in the near future. Besides, Prof. Sung delivered a lecture at the Inspiration Forum, a signature event of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), to share his life experience with students at SJTU. The visit strengthened the existing collaborative efforts of CUHK in Shanghai and enhanced ties for future collaborations in teaching and research.
