| 2009 Cross-Straits Forum for Academic Exchange Heads was held in Hong Kong and Macau from 7 to 10 December. With the support from Division of Education, Science and Technology Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR, the forum was co-hosted by the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong and University of Macau.
More than 30 representatives from 18 institutions in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan joined the event which was kicked off officially on CUHK campus on 8 December. After the panel session in CUHK, participants paid visits to other hosted universities in Hong Kong and Macau, and held discussions during the visits. The visits and meetings provided opportunities for the heads in academic exchange units from the four regions to share their experience in higher education sector without boundaries. Under a friendly atmosphere, participants not only obtained valuable knowledge, but also established stronger links with each other through this 4-day event. This is the first time the forum was hosted by Hong Kong and Macau. The first Cross-Strait Forum for Academic Exchange Heads was organized by Zhejiang University in 2008 with attendees from 14 institutions. |
