CUHK Supports the Workshop for Directors of Confucius Institute

A delegation from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) attended the Workshop for Directors of Confucius Institute in Beijing on 14 December. The workshop, organized by the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) was attended by 200 directors of the Confucius Institute around the world.

The delegation comprised Prof. Hsiung Ping-chen, Dean of Arts; Prof. Ho Che-wah, Chairman of Department of Chinese Language and Literature; Prof. Cheung H Samuel, Professor of Chinese Language and Literature, and two prominent scholars invited by CUHK, Prof. R. Bin Wong, Professor of History and Director of Asia Institute, UCLA, and Prof. Hsiao-Jung Yu from University of California, Santa Barbara. Prof. Hsiung, Prof. Wong and Prof. Yu delivered talks to examine the links between the Chinese language and Chinese culture, and to promote discussion of importance of cross-cultural elements in Chinese teaching.
