On 14-20 December 2011, a postgraduate students delegation from the School of Architecture of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), attended the "2011 Cross-Strait Academic Exchange Workshop in Architecture" in Taiwan. The delegation was led by Prof. Tsou Jin-Yeu, Professor of School of Architecture and Director of Center for Housing Innovations, and Prof. Li Bingren, Deputy Director of the Committee of Science & Technology, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the PRC. With the theme of "Future City, Future Life", the workshop was co-organized by the Architectural Institute of Taiwan and Tamkang University. Prof. He Jing-Tang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Taiwan Principal Architect, Mr. Lee Chung-Yong, were the moderators of the event.
Apart from the 10 CUHK postgraduate students, the workshop was attended by more than one hundred students and scholars from 17 universities in Taiwan and Mainland China, including representatives from Tamkang University, Cheng Kung University, Tunghai University and Chinese Culture University in Taiwan, and Tsinghua University, Tongji University, South China University of Technology and Harbin Institute of Technology from Mainland China. Participants also took part in the Architectural Culture and Cultural Architecture Symposium to share their ideas and expertise on a variety of topics in architecture and culture across the regions. After the events, CUHK delegation visited Tunghai University, Feng Chia University and Asia University. Under the guidance of Prof. Liu Yudong, Vice-President of Asia University, the delegates learned about the work of a renowned Japanese architect, Mr. Tadao Ando and visited his first public project in Taiwan. The workshop and the followed visits enabled the delegates to enrich and broaden professional knowledge via experiential learning and participation. |
