Professor Ovid Tzeng, Chancellor of University System of Taiwan (UST), led a delegation comprising members from Sayling Wen Cultural & Educational Foundation, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office and Academia Sinica to visit The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on February 25. The delegation was received by Professor Rocky Tuan, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, Professor Fok Tai-fai, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Ms. Wing Wong, Director of Academic Links (China).
Both sides gave updates on their respective latest developments at the meeting, sharing progress in student exchange and research collaboration projects and exploring possibilities for future cooperation. Professor Tuan led a university delegation to visit Taiwan in June last year, during which he met with Chancellor Tzeng and representatives of various member institutions of UST. This visit in turn provided another platform for interflow between universities in Hong Kong and Taiwan, further enhancing linkage and understanding in promoting educational and cultural exchanges.
UST is the first university system in Taiwan, founded by four Taiwan research universities in 2003. It has concluded a range of collaboration initiatives with CUHK including academic linkage, undergraduate exchange and research placement. UST students come to receive research training through OALC's Summer Research Placement Programme for Mainland and Taiwan Students. CUHK and UST also joined hands with Peking University to co-establish the Joint Research Centre for Language and Human Complexity.
