17th Annual Meeting of China Association for Science and Technology
A delegation of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) attended the 17th Annual Meeting of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) from 23 to 24 May 2015 in Guangzhou. The meeting was co-hosted by CAST and the People's Government of Guangdong Province.
Members of the delegation included Prof. Leung Ping-chung, Director of the Centre for Clinical Trials on Chinese Medicine; Prof. Wong Kam-fai, Associate Dean of Engineering and Director of the Centre for Innovation and Technology (CINTEC); and Assistant Research Professor Li Zheng, Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering. CINTEC as the same time sent a 10-member delegation to participate in the 1st Innovative Technology Exhibition of China and displayed 5 research products from CUHK.
The event is a national annual event on the mainland and the theme of 2015 was "Innovation-driven Technology". Thousands of scholars, scientists and specialists from Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau region participated in the meeting. Officiating guests and renowned scientists who attended the opening ceremony and the meeting included Mr. Li Yuanchao, Vice-President of People's Republic of China; Mr. Hu Chunhua, Party Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Government; Prof. Han Qide, Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology; and Prof. Wang Zhizhen, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
CUHK has been participating in this important scientific annual meeting of CAST since 2012. The activity not only provided a valuable opportunity to build up academic linkages among scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau from a wide variety of fields in science and technology, but also helped facilitate collaborations and partnership building for further developments.

Conference on Higher Education for the 50th Anniversary of Faculty of Education, CUHK: Future University in Greater China: Boundary-crossing and Innovation
In celebrating the 50th anniversary, the Faculty of Education of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) organized a higher education conference on May 7 and 8, 2015 on CUHK campus, aiming to provide a cutting-edge platform for intellectual exchanges on higher education development in Greater China.
Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and Dr Glenn Shive, Vice-President for Programs of United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia officiated at the opening ceremony and welcomed the keynote speakers which comprised of Prof. Chen Xiaoyu, Dean of Graduate School of Education of Peking University, Prof. Qin Sizhao Joe, Vice-President of CUHK (Shenzhen), Prof. Wong Rujer, President of Taiwan Taichung University of Education and Prof. Yu Lizhong, President of Shanghai-New Yok University. About 120 academics and experts from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan took part in this event, addressing the effects of ideas and practices of boundary-crossing and innovations to the universities in Greater China.
