The 17th Training Course on Management of Mainland Higher Education

The 17th Training Course on Management of Mainland Higher Education was held in Tsinghua University on October 9 – 16.  Thirty-one academic and executive staff from ten local institutions participated in the programme.  The four participants from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) included Prof. Naicholas Pang, Department Chair of Educationl Administration and Policy, and administrative members of the Personnel Office and the Graduate School Office.

The eight-day training programme was jointly organized by Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Ministry of Education (MOE), and the Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in the HKSAR.  It comprised a series of lectures covering a wide variety of topics relating to the developments of higher education, judicial systems, diplomacy, as well as political, economic and social conditions in mainland China.

Participants also visited historical sites and museums in Beijing, and met with representatives of Tsinghua University to share their administrative work experience.  The programme provided a great opportunity for participants to obtain in-depth knowledge of the recent development on the mainland, and facilitated exchange and interflow of academic and executive staff in the tertiary education sector from the two regions.
