Delegation led by CUHK Vice-Chancellor Joins the Anniversary Celebration of Shanghai Jiao Tong University
Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor of CUHK, led a delegation to visit Shanghai from 6 to 9 April, attending the 120th anniversary activities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and participating in the Executive Committee meeting of the Association of University Presidents of China (AUPC) and the University Presidents' Forum. CUHK delegation comprised Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Poon Wai-yin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Prof. Wong Suk-ying, Associate Vice-President; and Dr. Andy Wong, Assistant Dean of Business Administration.
University leaders from all over the world gathered in SJTU to celebrate the anniversary and took part in a range of activites. At the Executive Committee Meeting of AUPC and the University Presidents' Forum, CUHK, together with representatives from C9 League universities, discussed how innovation can be connected with technological development, internationalization and talent nurturing of universities. All the participating universities signed the Shanghai Declaration, indicating the commitment to work towards the development of science and technology via utilizing the intellectual, cultural, research and technical strengths under the global trend of innovation.
During the visit, VC also signed a tripartite agreement with SJTU and Waseda University on a joint undergraduate programme in Asian Business Studies, which mark the collaborative efforts of the 3 universities in nurturing talents across the regions.
SJTU is one of the University's major strategic partners. Since the establishment of partnership in 1990, both universities have joined hands in collaboration projects ranging from research, curriculum development and student exchange. The CUHK-SJTU Partnership Steering Committee was established in 2015 to foster and consolidate the partnership for future development.

CUHK Provost Attends the Anniversary Activties of Xi'an Jiaotong University and Signs MOU to Join the University Alliance of The Silk Road
Prof. Benjamin Wah, Provost of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), visited Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) from 6 to 9 April. He attended its 120th anniversary celebration activities and signed the agreement on behalf of CUHK in joining the University Alliance of the Silk Road (UASR) during the visit.
Apart from the celebration activities, Prof. Wah took part in the Summit for Presidents of World Class Universities and delivered a speech for the panel on "University's Mission and Diverse Cultures". He also shared ideas on other panel topics concerning the opportunities and challenges of higher education in the information era as well as talent mobility in the global context with participating university leaders. The University participated in the Education Expo of World Class Universities during the period, providing participating students with comprehensive information about CUHK's undergraduate and graduate programmmes.
On April 9, Prof. Wah met with Prof. Wang Shuguo, President of XJTU to discuss on further collaboration plans between the two universities. A signing ceremony was held for CUHK to join the UASR as one of the member universities under the Alliance. The UASR was established in 2015 to promote the spirit of the Silk Road, building a cooperative education platform to further regional development. The Alliance has now more than 120 member universities from 22 countries and regions.
Since the partnership was established in 1994, CUHK has been in a close relationship with XJTU. This visit together with CUHK's joining in the UASR enhanced the ties and facilitated further development of collaborative efforts between the two universities.
