This Centre is going to launch the I·CARE Achievers Programme in Term 2 of 2017-18 with special features as follows:


I·CARE Community Research Scheme: Training Activities

The I·CARE Programme runs a Community Research Scheme in which the participants will be divided into small groups to reach out to the community and to conduct research on contemporary local issues.  The research topics for this academic year include "Ma On Shan Community Development" and "Elderly-friendly Housing", and the Scheme has recorded an enrolment of over 70 students from different disciplines.


S.I. Leadership Award - Calls for Application Now

CUSE Fund under this Centre and Yunus Social Business Centre@CUHK will jointly launch the S.I. Leadership Award for CUHK students and alumni who are interested in social enterprise / social business.  Through training, mentorship and competition, the Award encourages participants to form teams to implement their social enterprise / social business initiatives.  In addition to acquiring professional knowledge on social enterprise / social business, participants of different disciplines will gain inspirations on innovative idea through collaboration with their counterparts.


"Fitness x Mentorship" Scheme Successfully Launched

Co-organised by the University Physical Education Unit and this Centre, the "Fitness x Mentorship" Scheme commenced in mid-October and is going to last for approximately two months.  The Scheme provided each of the 51 CUHK participants with an opportunity to receive eight sessions of professional training in a sport of his/ her choice (street run, rope skipping or badminton).  At the same time, they were enabled to partner secondary students from the adjacent locality as their mentors to share the joy, knowledge and skills of playing sports.


CUHK 10K Night Challenge

Jointly organised by the University Physical Education Unit, HKJC Centre of Sports Medicine and Health Science and this Centre, the CUHK 10K Night Challenge was successfully held on 8 November.  It comprised two types of entries for advanced runners (10 km) and beginners (4 km) respectively.  Both groups started and finished their race at the South Square of Pak Shek Kok Promenade, Shatin.


I·CARE Social Service Projects Scheme - Sharing Session on "Improving Health in Developing Countries: A Service Learning Perspective"

I·CARE Programme has all along been in favour of volunteering among students, and is committed to providing them with opportunities of related training and experience exchange.  To this end, the Sharing Session on "Improving Health in Developing Countries: A Service Learning Perspective" was held on 26 October.


University Lecture on Civility - I·CARE Salon (8th & 9th Sessions)

Riding on the 100th Anniversary of the October Revolution in Russia, I·CARE Salon is honoured to have invited Prof. Jin Yan and Prof. Qin Hui to be speakers of its 8th and 9th Sessions respectively.  While Prof. Jin talked on The Birth of a Socialism Country - the Two Periods of Transformation in Russia during 1917-1918, Prof. Qin chose Historical Positioning of the Russian Revolution as the title of his speech.
