The film I Still Remember, directed and produced by Mr. Lik Ho and Mr. O Sing Pui respectively, is recommended by numerous educators including Prof. Joseph Sung, the overseer of this programme. It tells the story of a real estate agent who does not have goals in his life, but then undertakes to do something to cheer himself up after being moved by the efforts of his teacher and friend, as well as his memories of 20 years ago. The post-screening discussion was hosted by Ms. Irene Ng, Director of this Centre, and graced by the presence of Director Ho and Producer O who did not only share with the audience how they had been inspired to create this story and what hardship they had experienced in the course of shooting, but also related their conviction of realising dreams. At the beginning of the discussion, many viewers expressed their commendation for the fine depiction of the genuine teacher-student relationship, as well as the close affinity between couples. Some episodes did remind the teachers, youth workers and parents among the audience of the reasons for their assumption of the present professions or roles. Another perspective flashed in the middle of the discussion was about the undesirability in reality that has made people hardly empathise with the teacher-student relationship demonstrated in the film. These divided opinions had led to a more in-depth exchange about the conceptions of “gratitude’ and “positive thinking”, etc.
More feedback arrived at this Centre in a few days after the Screening cum Sharing Session on I Still Remember. The senders expressed that they had developed a deeper understanding of the diversity of thoughts, and it left them much room for rethink.
