Inauguration Ceremony of the CUHK Transgenic Core Service Centre (TCSC)

With the coordination and planning by the School of Biomedical Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science collaborated to establish the CUHK Transgenic Core Service Centre (CUHK-TCSC) aiming to assist investigators to generate transgenic animals for conducting in vivo studies.

The inauguration ceremony, officiated by Prof. Fok Tai-Fai, Dean of Medicine; Prof. Chan Wai-Yee , Director of School of Biomedical Sciences; Prof. Chu Ka-Hou, Director of School of Life Sciences and Dr. Anthony E. James, Director of the Laboratory Animal Services Centre (LASEC), was held on 3 October 2011.

Located on the ground floor of the LASEC, the Centre will provide a range of services to investigators especially in terms of generating, breeding, and preserving genetically-modified mice. The Centre is funded by a Scheme D grant and managed by a team of investigators from the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Science. Apart from Prof. Kenneth Lee who is now serving as the Centre's Consultant, the Centre will be managed by a qualified micromanipulation staff and will provide technical knowhow and consultations on how to produce transgenic and knockout mice to investigators. Interested parties may visit the Centre's website at for more details.
