Science alumni helped kick off the Fair by sharing their job searching journey back to the time when they were about to enter workplace in the Alumni Sharing Sessions. Some of them are still in the science-related industries while some are pursuing their career path in other fields like creative media, public relations, and business sectors. Besides demonstrating how science graduates unleash their potential in different workplaces, they also shared the first-hand market trend, essential job skills, and career path with hundreds of students. All of them encouraged students to think positively as how they choose to react and adapt to adversity will be finishing attributes and skills that will bode well for the future.
In the Resume Q&A Session, Dr. Philip Lee of Department of Statistics continued to be there to answer students’ questions related to resume preparation. He gave many practical tips for building up an easy-to-read and professional resume. And a series of recruitment talks was also organised within the week. Representatives of companies from industries ranging from technology & research, pharmaceutical & healthcare, data analytics & IT, to banking & finance introduced their company background and businesses, career prospect, current job openings, and recruitment schedule to students; participants also grasped the opportunity to raise questions to learn more about their potential employers.
Apart from the interactive sessions and activities, dozens of new job openings were posted onto the Science Career Square, the brand new job posting platform built on SharePoint, to help science students to discover latest career opportunities. Students can now search for job openings by industry types, study fields, application deadlines, etc. on the platform. The Science Career Square updates regularly and new career information will be posted each week. Just realised that you miss this piece of important information? Never mind, try it now!
