SHHO Runner Force for Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon

SHHO Runner Force programme has made incremental progress after the Xiamen International Marathon trip. Programme participants went on to take part in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on 24 February 2013, and supported the celebration of CUHK's 50th anniversary at the same time. College student Ma Ka Chung finished the 10km race in 48 minutes and 40 seconds. The programme's objective – see the world on foot – is taking shape.

To prepare for the Marathon, Runner Force had received training three times a week to enhance endurance, adjust running posture and breathing rhythm. On the race day, Prof. KB Wong, Dean of Students of S. H. Ho College, and another 17 members of Runner Force ran from different starting points. Two of them competed in full marathon, seven of them in half marathon, and the other nine in 10km races. Prof. Joseph Sung, Vice-Chancellor, waited at the finishing line to cheer for the participants. He spoke highly of their willpower and took pictures with the runners.

SHHO Runner Force programme has entered its third phase with a forthcoming participation in the Panasonic Pacers Charity Easter Run in March. In June they will head for the Australia Gold Coast Airport Marathon, for which top runners will be selected to compete in full and half marathon, another step into the objective of seeing the world on foot.
