IT Training Recap: Let Office Write / Speak / Read for You

Missed out the ITSC trainings for staff in this semester? We will share some highlighted features with you again via ITSC eNewsletter and social media. In this issue, let us talk about Microsoft 365 Apps (M365 Apps, formerly known as Office 365 ProPlus) that can make your study or office work efficient.

Word of M365 Apps Can Write for You

Sometimes, we would rather speak instead of typing while sending instant messages. The same can be applied to your documents too. Dictate (Speech-to-text) in M365 Word can quickly type your speech in different languages e.g. Cantonese, Madarin and English. This feature is also supported by mobile apps or web version.

PowerPoint for M365 Apps Can Write Subtitles for You

The speech-to-text function is also available in PowerPoint of M365 but appear during your presentation. It supports real-time captioning with simultaneous translation e.g. English speech plus Cantonese subtitles. This feature is also supported by web version.

Word for M365 Apps Can Speak for You

With Immersive Reader in M365, you can write a script and let Office read them aloud (text-to-speech) with adjustable speed and voice. This feature is available in web version of PowerPoint too.

Excel for M365 Apps Can Read Data for You

Besides, Excel in Microsoft 365 can now interpret a table in an image or printed document format. This “insert data from picture” feature is also supported in mobile apps or web version.
