Further to the last two joint events held on 9 August 2010 and 14 March 2011, the School of Biomedical Sciences and the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) co-organized on 13 December 2011 a seminar entitled "Opportunities for Industry-Academia Collaboration: A Win-win" as delivered by Dr. Lily Lee, Senior Vice President, Head of Asia R&D, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson.
The seminar was well attended by staff from our School, the clinical departments at Prince of Wales Hospital, and members of the Faculty of Sciences. During the seminar, Dr. Lee addressed the change in the philosophy of doing R&D in the pharmaceutical industry in the last few years. She pointed out the increasing mutual needs of the industrial and academic sectors in exploring broader collaboration and tapping into each others' skills and resources for actualizing innovative ideas. Critical factors for effective and productive collaborations to create win-win for both parties were discussed during the seminar.
