The 14th Seminar on Chinese Moral Education

The Seminar on Chinese Moral Education aims to promote Chinese traditional virtues and moral education to the younger generations and has been co-organized by New Asia College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Beijing Oriental Morality Institute since 2002. Each summer, a group of primary and secondary school principals, teachers and education professionals from different parts of Mainland China attend a series of seminars, discussion forums and visits related to moral education during the 8-day programme at the College. The Seminar has two groups: The Primary School Group and the Secondary School Group, with around thirty participants in each group. The two groups are generously sponsored by Tin Ka Ping Foundation and College trustee, Dr. Lee Sam Yuen respectively.

The 14th Seminar on Chinese Moral Education was held from 5 to 12 July, 2016, with "
Intelligence (

Six lectures related to Chinese Moral Education were held during the seminar, delivered by the following speakers: Prof. Wang Xinhong and Prof. Fu Yongji from the Beijing Oriental Morality Institute, Prof. Cheng Kut Hung, Dennis, Associate Vice President (Programme Development) and Chair Professor of Cultural History of The Education University of Hong Kong, Fr. Tsui Kam Yiu from the Hong Kong Catholic Institute for Religion and Society, Prof. Cheng Chung Yi from the Department of Philosophy at CUHK, and Prof. Liu Xiaogan from the Research Centre for Chinese Philosophy and Culture of the Department of Philosophy at CUHK.

Apart from lectures, participants also visited local schools and organizations, including Tin Ka Ping Foundation, New Asia Middle School, ICAC Headquarters and the Red Cross Headquarters where they learnt about moral education in Hong Kong. Teachers from local schools were invited to forums on 9 July to introduce programs related to moral education and the promotion of Chinese Culture in their schools, which was an excellent platform for the sharing of experiences with their local counterparts. Participants have found these experiences deeply inspiring.
