On 14 March 2011, the School of Biomedical Sciences and the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) jointly organized an experience-sharing lunch entitled "Commercialization of Biomedical Inventions" hosted by Dr. Ivan King, former Vice President of Research and Development, Vion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., USA.
During the event, Dr. King shared his experience and views on technology commercialization in the pharmaceutical industry with participants from our School, School of Pharmacy, Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Department of Surgery, School of Life Sciences and School of Chinese Medicine. Other related topics, such as effective patent application strategies and avenues of finding venture capitals, were also discussed. He encouraged participants to adopt a proactive approach to look for commercialization opportunities with industrial partners and investors.
