Walking Campaign 2015
|
CW Chu College was chosen as the end-point of this year's university annual walking campaign, which was held on 13 February 2015. Organized by the University Health Service and several other units, the campaign aims to introduce a new walking trail, promote the health benefits of exercise and cultivate a walking culture on campus.
The walk commenced immediately after the kick-off ceremony, officiated by Professor Fok Tai Fai, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Professor Fung Tung, Associate Vice-President, Professor Samuel Sun, Master of SH Ho College, Professor Jimmy Yu, Head of United College and Professor Kenneth Young, Master of CW Chu College. Hundreds of participants including guests, teachers and students from different colleges set off from the University Station Piazza and headed towards CW Chu College along Campus Circuit North. It was a tranquil and refreshing walk enhanced by the breath-taking scenery of the Tolo Harbour. Beautiful melaleucas and palm trees lined the trail. Participants benefitted physically from this gentle, low-impact form of exercise, and also discovered many hidden treasures of nature — fresh air, warm sunshine, spring breeze and soothing greenery. Overall, the entire walk was invigorating and rejuvenating for both the body and the mind. In support of the campaign, the College presented organic apples to all participants at the finish. The activities concluded with the University's Walk for Green Programme Award and Certificate Presentation Ceremony. The Campaign should act as a catalyst for participants to adopt a green and healthy lifestyle in the New Year!
