The symposium was kicked off with an opening ceremony officiated by the guests of honor, including Mr. Zou Liyao, Director of Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office of NSFC; Mr. Ji Jianjun, Deputy Inspector of Department of Education, Science and Technology Department of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR; Mr. Li Nai Yiu, President of Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre; and Prof. Fanny M.C. Cheung, Pro-Vice-Chancellor/Vice-President of CUHK. Following the opening ceremony, two keynote lectures were delivered by Prof. Lu Lin, Director of Peking University Sixth Hospital, and Prof. So Kwok Fai, Chair of Anatomy in the Department of Ophthalmology of The University of Hong Kong and member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), respectively, on the first day of the symposium. Including the keynote lectures, a total of 29 presentations were delivered in the symposium by the scholars from mainland China and local universities such as The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The two-day symposium attracted a record high of more than 170 participants of which over 50 participants were scholars and postgraduate students from institutions in mainland China.
The symposium served as a platform for participants to share their research discoveries in adolescent mental health, and to enable the participating institutes and universities in Hong Kong and in mainland China to establish a stronger academic link.
