Launch of the New BSc in Biomedical Sciences Programme

The proposal of the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biomedical Sciences Programme of the School of Biomedical Sciences was approved by the Senate on 9 October 2015.  The new BSc Programme is the first undergraduate programme offered by SBS and the first cohort of students will be admitted in the academic year 2016-2017.

To widely promote this new BSc Programme in secondary schools and among the general public, the School has been actively participating in a series of outreach and promotion activities including having an interview by a RTHK radio programme on 22 October 2015; joining in the Orientation Day for Undergraduate Admissions 2015 on 24 October 2015 and the press conference held on the same day for announcing the launch of the Programme; arranging admission talk for secondary school principals, science teachers and career masters on 30 October 2015; and conducting media interview with a local newspaper on 20 November 2015 for introducing the rationale of the programme design, curriculum structure, career prospects and admission requirements.

To facilitate recruitment of high caliber students for the Programme, our School is honoured to have received the donations from Prof. To Cho-yee and Mr. Jimmy Chin for setting up two new scholarships for the Programme, namely "Patricia Wong To Research Scholarship for Biomedical Sciences" and "Mr. Chin Chun Fuk & Madam Lo Hang Sheung Scholarship".  The scholarships would be a great encouragement to prospective students who attain outstanding academic performance, and support them to engage in research and academic exchange.  We would like to express our whole-hearted appreciation to the donors for supporting us in the nurturing of young talents for different fields of biomedical sciences.
