Ms. Louise Jones the previous University Librarian retired in January this year and I have been asked to act in the position until a new University Librarian is appointed. I have been at CUHK Library for over 15 years and first came to Hong Kong to establish the new Law Library to support the Faculty of Law. Since then, I have progressively moved to overseeing various public services departments and branches in the Library.

United College Wu Chung Library ("the UCL"), one of the founding college libraries at CUHK, celebrated its 50th anniversary on the CUHK campus on 3 January 2022. After transforming into one of the boutique humanities-based libraries on the upper campus in 2018, the UCL now houses the Philosophy collection, major Chinese monograph series collection, and of course, the General Education collection. The fifty-year journey was never easy, but with everyone’s support, we made it happen.

Since the 1950s, a large number of mainland Chinese literati came to Hong Kong, and coupled with the rise of local playwrights and repertory theatres, Hong Kong drama has flourished, performing classic plays one after another. The CUHK Library has collected many rare and precious materials of Hong Kong playwrights such as Yao Ke, Hu Chunbing, Lee Woon Wah, etc. and repertory theatres such as the Chinese Drama Group, Sino-British Club of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. The collection includes letters, manuscripts, photos, scripts, and publicity materials, etc. These historical materials help us extensively explore the development of Hong Kong drama . The following will introduce several scripts in our collection that are very popular.
